POSSIBLE CORONAVIRUS STAY AT HOME GUIDE: www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-stay-at-home-guidance/stay-at-home-guidance-for-households-with-possible-coronavirus-covid-19-infection
To look after our patients and staff for the unforeseen future we have changed the way in which our appointments are booked. All appointments with the Doctors will be have telephone triage in the first instance, it will be at the discretion of Doctor if they invite you into the practice. This is following guidance provided by NHS England and Public Health England.
We have suspended our appointment system (including online bookings) for all future bookings in order to ensure we are prepared.
If you already have an appointment booked in the near future you may receive a call from the practice to see if it can be dealt with over the phone. If you feel that you need to be seen, you may be asked additional questions before an appointment is made for you.
If you do visit the surgery, please do not be alarmed if the Doctor that is seeing you is wearing a mask or taking extra precautions.
If you wish to avoid the surgery, please cancel you appointment by contacting the reception team by phone. Alternatively you can use the online service (to cancel only) or texting cancellation option (if you have signed up to these services).
Please DO NOT attend the surgery if you suspect that you may have Coronavirus (COVID-19). This is for the protection of the whole practice as well as vulnerable patients. We do not have any way of testing for the virus in the surgery and anyone who attends the practice with this virus could lead to the surgery being closed.
If you are concerned about Coronavirus, please see the NHS 111 page: https://111.nhs.uk/covid-19
Please wash your hand thoroughly and regularly, when coughing or sneezing please ensure you cover your mouth, this could reduce the spread of this virus.
The situation around Coronavirus is changing daily. This post was correct as of 20th March 2020.

WE ARE MAKING IT EASIER FOR YOU TO FIND OUT HOW WE HANDLE YOUR INFORMATION
The data privacy law was introduced in the UK in 2018. As a result of this law we have published a Privacy Notice on the 25th May 2018, this makes it easier for you to find out how we use and protect your information. We will not be changing the way we use your personal information, but the new notice will provide you with additional details such as:
- Your increased rights in relation to the information we hold about you
- How we keep your personal information secure
- The types of personal information that Riversley Road Surgery collects about you, how we collect it, and how we use it
- The legal grounds for how we use your information
NATIONAL DATA OPT-OUT PROGRAMME
The National Data opt-out will sit alongside the new General Data Protection Regulations/Data Protection Bill 2017 and is not replaced or changed by it.
Previously you could indicate a preference to enable your clinical data not to be shared with other health care providers or external organisations, which we as a GP practice could add to your record.
From the 25th May 2018 we can no longer do this and you will need to register with the National opt-out programme if you wish to take this step (details below).
If you have currently requested that your data is not shared, then you will be written to by NHS Digital advising you of the changes, but the codes which we have previously applied should be carried over onto the new system.
